Almost 10

So it's almost 2010 and we are about to embark on a new decade. This one has been pretty solid though. Lot's of great music. Lot's of great life. Lot's of awesome people. Anyways. I hope it was a good holiday for everyone. I acquired some new pieces of kit. The first of which would be the Macintosh magic mouse! I also got a pop filter finally! Anyways the par avion remixes are going great. I've just finished the song "plastic" it's pretty cool stuff. I used the vocoder in live to do some different stuff. Been on a 2 week break from school, but i'm already ready to go back. Finishing out the last of the winter semester. Then in spring it's on to mixing and mastering with Doug McBride at nine in the morning! No real exciting updates, but I might be in Future Music magazine!
Till next year,

From The Trenches

So here I am yet again at 4AM. It's a blistering 9.7 degrees outside! Anyways it is now officially go time. I finally received my par avion master pro-tools sessions and have begun the editing process and brainstorming. In other recording news......I've started work on a new project with my former band mate Tony Weirig. We've decided to cut a 5 song demo/EP of some music. The reason I say demo is because i don't have enough inputs to mic up my drumset(SHAME). However I will be programming some sampled drums to make it somewhat human. I will also be playing every instrument except vocals, that is Tony's job. Recorded the first song today using nothing but Ableton Live and my ADA MP1 tube pre-amp. Sounds pretty amazing if i do say so myself. Well thats all for now, but I'm sure i'll have more news by the end of the weekend! See ya!

TIME FOR AN UPDATE

So, i really need to stop making absences on this wonderful blog. I've been quite busy though. I estimate that I write at least 4 tracks in Ableton a week so that takes up quite a bit of time and then i'm always at school. However, I thought I should update the world on what exactly Daniel Clayton Farnsworth is up to. Let me tell you. After black friday I made some extensive changes to Cue=Play studios. I bought a DBX 166XL compressor and then yesterday I bought a patchbay. I finally have some outboard gear pumping in my studio instead of always relying on Plug-in's. I even have my microkorg patched up so I can get some great synth sounds going for my newer tracks. My next goal for Cue=Play is to improve the room acoustics by installing better treatment. Sure a bunch of heavy rugs and knowing your room get's you somewhere, but i'm trying to find an even better alternative. I did just by Auralex Mo Pad's though and you can hear things way different right off the bat. I realized that Dead To Fall's Recordings just do not have a ton of low end, especially below 100 hz. Anyways, Thats what is going on here. Still waiting for master tracks from Par Avion and doing even more wonderful work at Gravity Studios in Wicker Park. Been listening to a lot of Calvin Harris and Miike Snow. Both are Fantastic. Also enjoying Imogen Heap at the moment. More updates soon.

Oh yes

Well. It's been a little while and for those of you waiting for the update here we are. I have put together cue=play studios finally. Next purchase is a Alesis 3630 compressor. It's got that classic french house sound which i've been wanting for a while anyways. Also on my purchase list is a Mackie Big knob. Not Super necessary at the moment, but i want it. Still waiting for Par Avion Master Tracks which are in the mail. Remixes will be coming soon. They're also making an entire new album and..........I'm going to engineer the drum recordings! Woo! Phil's kit is awesome so i'm excited. Endings is out on tuesday! Get it! Here are some pictures of Cue=Play studio.

More Waiting.

I am still waiting on master pro tools sessions from Phil from Par Avion, but i have been working on some new production tracks....even though i haven't even released "Endings". Which is coming out December 1rst. If you want a copy or know someone that does I can get it to you in person or by mail. If worse comes to worse i can give a digital copy, but i really enjoy the artwork that i have for it. So long story short, working on par avion remixes, going to school everyday, finishing up press/cd production, getting ready for thanksgiving, and just keeping audio in my blood all the time. P.S. heres the newer album cover for endings minus the red typing error because my name apparently isn't an English word in the dictionary.
Cheers,
Daniel Clayton Farnsworth

News News.

So i found out last night that Par Avion is putting out a remix album and a B-sides album. I'm going to be doing some of the remixes. SO EXCITED! Par Avion is a fantastic band and they put on a great show. In other news my band Yes, Destroyer played our last ever show last night. It was a good show and I thank all the people that came out and supported us for the half hour or so that we played. I will say that there was a lot of guitar feedback and sloppy playing on my part, but it was enjoyable. I'm still looking for more bands to record now that I have a lot more time to devote to Recording and mixing. Anyways I'm going to enjoy the weekend and you should to. www.myspace.com/paravion

Spring Break!

Enjoying Spring Break. About to break some big news to people. I have begun work on my new album entitled Book.Record.Ride. It's mainly going to be Ambient Electronic work, but i'm sure there will be elements like guitars and Dance music involved. Lyrics have been coming pretty easy for it too. I think all the books i've been reading have helped a lot with writing in general. One song I wrote for the album deals with a subject in the book dead eye dick by Kurt Vonnegut. Anyways go check out my music myspace if you haven't. My artist name on there is Me!Dan!Sing. The newest song on there is Marble Arch. This is an early preview of Book.Record.Ride. Enjoy! www.myspace.com/me!dan!sing I'm currently listening to Van She. Great album. See you later!
