Almost 10

So it's almost 2010 and we are about to embark on a new decade. This one has been pretty solid though. Lot's of great music. Lot's of great life. Lot's of awesome people. Anyways. I hope it was a good holiday for everyone. I acquired some new pieces of kit. The first of which would be the Macintosh magic mouse! I also got a pop filter finally! Anyways the par avion remixes are going great. I've just finished the song "plastic" it's pretty cool stuff. I used the vocoder in live to do some different stuff. Been on a 2 week break from school, but i'm already ready to go back. Finishing out the last of the winter semester. Then in spring it's on to mixing and mastering with Doug McBride at nine in the morning! No real exciting updates, but I might be in Future Music magazine!
Till next year,
Daniel Clayton Farnsworth

From The Trenches

So here I am yet again at 4AM. It's a blistering 9.7 degrees outside! Anyways it is now officially go time. I finally received my par avion master pro-tools sessions and have begun the editing process and brainstorming. In other recording news......I've started work on a new project with my former band mate Tony Weirig. We've decided to cut a 5 song demo/EP of some music. The reason I say demo is because i don't have enough inputs to mic up my drumset(SHAME). However I will be programming some sampled drums to make it somewhat human. I will also be playing every instrument except vocals, that is Tony's job. Recorded the first song today using nothing but Ableton Live and my ADA MP1 tube pre-amp. Sounds pretty amazing if i do say so myself. Well thats all for now, but I'm sure i'll have more news by the end of the weekend! See ya!

TIME FOR AN UPDATE

So, i really need to stop making absences on this wonderful blog. I've been quite busy though. I estimate that I write at least 4 tracks in Ableton a week so that takes up quite a bit of time and then i'm always at school. However, I thought I should update the world on what exactly Daniel Clayton Farnsworth is up to. Let me tell you. After black friday I made some extensive changes to Cue=Play studios. I bought a DBX 166XL compressor and then yesterday I bought a patchbay. I finally have some outboard gear pumping in my studio instead of always relying on Plug-in's. I even have my microkorg patched up so I can get some great synth sounds going for my newer tracks. My next goal for Cue=Play is to improve the room acoustics by installing better treatment. Sure a bunch of heavy rugs and knowing your room get's you somewhere, but i'm trying to find an even better alternative. I did just by Auralex Mo Pad's though and you can hear things way different right off the bat. I realized that Dead To Fall's Recordings just do not have a ton of low end, especially below 100 hz. Anyways, Thats what is going on here. Still waiting for master tracks from Par Avion and doing even more wonderful work at Gravity Studios in Wicker Park. Been listening to a lot of Calvin Harris and Miike Snow. Both are Fantastic. Also enjoying Imogen Heap at the moment. More updates soon.
