I realize I am not the greatest at updating my blog, but I do come with great news about the year 2011 and what it has brought so Far. At this moment I'm currently listening to some sigur rós in the control room of my home studio on my new Alesis M1 active monitors. I picked up the pair for 100 bucks at the local sam ash and needless to say they are definitely starting to become the favorite for all of my engineering work. They are far more easy to dial in tones, plus they sound great for those nights when i'm forced to be quiet, but still want to listen to music/engineer. Now with the word engineering comes other duties. I'm expanding my repertoire and starting to move more and more into the Live realm so I can make some easy money/gain clients from shows. As well as general stagehand work and being a studio rat at the moment, i've decided that it's the time for me to really find my inner self and start writing those tunes that people feel. I'm experimenting more and more with live instruments as opposed to my usual approach of total electronica, but i've found a niché for the acoustic guitar and reverbrant vocals lately. I have posted some new things on my soundcloud and you are more then free to listen to them. A few friends of mine have constructed studios or are in the process and it's all looking wonderful from what i've seen. Soon many new artists and talents will be able to work within there budget, but with extremely talented engineers/producers. My goal is to make the best sounding records, not to make the highest profit. Money will come later, but let's focus on what we love here first. I have a notepad full of notes on bettering yourself everyday in the realm of career. It helps beyond belief and maybe i'll get around to posting these secrets. I guess the best secret, should be no secret. Know what you offer and why no one else has it. You have a supreme talent and soon you'll work with the right people. It's all on you to find those people. Sure things fall into your lap and you're blessed to work on great projects, but to truly go out there and hustle is all you. I say do it because you love it. Not for the money.
